Beach Hair Don't Care (Bali Day 3)

This top. Le sighhh… The bright floral embroidery detail drew my eyes in the moment I saw it. I think it's so so so so gaw-ge-ous. I have to pass this little outside kiosk on my way to work and they sell all kinds of tops like this in a variety of colors. I want. them. all. I was hesitant to buy it because it was a little more than I wanted to spend but I just HAD to have it. And as you know, I've been really drawn to embellished white clothing. No regrets whatsoever.

While selecting the top was a careful purchase, these shorts were definitely an impulse buy. Oddly enough, my blog doesn't really reflect this but I have an obsession with mint-colored clothing. I think I could wear only mint clothing for a week with all that I have in my closet. It's just so refreshing and clean looking. I saw these shorts and the lace detail tickled me pink mint. I used to hate wearing shorts because I hated my legs for a long time. Luckily, I've obviously grown out of that because 1) it's waaaaaaay too hot in Singapore not to wear 'em and 2) there are way too many cute shorts on the market to not get in on the fun!

Even though our 1st two days in Bali had been superb, I think day 3 was absolute perrrrr-fect-ion. Woke up late, got a 3-hour long massage package (for $15!!!), ate the most delicious - and huge - lunch of my favorite American Chinese food (which is surprisingly very very hard to find in Asia, go figure), shopped a little (I caved and splurged on two tie dyed dresses  from a boutique - I can't wait to show 'em to y'all!) and then spent the rest of the afternoon and evening at the beach. My favorite part of these photos are the tiny little silhouettes of the surfers that come out at sunset. It was such a beautiful beach and we had so much fun! I can't wait to go back to Bali!

Any holiday plans this summer? I wanna hear about it! :)

Eating, Praying and Loving in Ubud (Day 2 of Bali)

On day 2 of our Bali trip we went to Ubud and saw: the Batuan temple, the rice terraces, a deeeeeeelicious restaurant, and the monkey forest. Ubud is a magical place. It's got so much rich history and culture and it's a stunning sight to see everywhere you turn. It's tough to decide which was my favorite but it would probably have to be either our lunch (the best way to travel is through the stomach, obviously) or the monkey forest. We ate in our own personal little raised bungalow overlooking rice fields as far as the eye could see. It was so peaceful and beautiful and the green curry was the best I have ever had. I could have eaten at least 5 more bowls of it!

I didn't have very high expectations for the monkey forest but I was pleasantly surprised. The grounds were so much bigger and spectacular. I felt like I was in an Indian Jones movie; huge ancient trees, mossy old statues and cheeky monkeys running around everywhere. The monkeys were so entertaining to watch. They would jump on you and one of them keep trying to crawl up my skirt!

This was probably my favorite outfit I wore in Bali. Stephen picked out this skirt for our 2-year anniversary (good job, boo!) I'm obsessed with summer white lately; just like with black though I like the piece to have something extra to make it interesting. The t-shirt/crop-top is this great faded soft cotton but it was way too slouchy to be flattering on me. I saw a window display a while ago that knotted all the t-shirt in the middle and thought it was brilliant! This summer, I've been doing that as an alternative instead of tucking it into high-waisted bottoms with a lot of my regular length t-shirts, too.

Hope you have been having a sensational summer as well!

Peace, Love and Beaches (Bali Day 1)

I apologize in advance - these Bali posts will be full of photo-overload. I just can't narrow down them all down!

Last week, my friend Nadia and I went to Bali and y'all, it is everything everyone says it is. It's gorgeous, the people are so lovely and there is SO MUCH TO DO AND SEE. I'm already planning my next trip back! On our first day, we had a taxi driver take us around to a bunch of different places: 2 different beaches, an amazing seafood restaurant, a coffee plantation, and Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) cultural park. We ended the day eating a $6 steak dinner that tasted like $50 (all the cheap, delicious food might honestly have been my favorite thing!) I think my favorite part of the day was our lunch (see, I told you!) We went to a practically deserted beach and ate under a big yellow umbrella directly on the beach. A traveling band stopped to serenade us to "American Pie". It was pretty perfect.

And for my outfit, it's all about this kimono! According to InStyle, fringe is the new peplum. I can totally get down with that. I just love the white, thin, filmy cotton material and of course, all the fringe detail.
What do you think about the kimono and/or fringe trend this summer?
