White Scalloped Top and Nude Pleated Skirt

Why haven't I worn this outfit sooner?? I was toying around with the idea of playing with this season's hugest trends - whites & nudes. And then it seemed like the outfit made itself. It's such a simple look but has so many beautiful details that I love! 

First of all this, this top. My mom pulled it out of a Goodwill rack and thank heaven's that that woman can spot quality from a mile away. This beauty has stunning embroidered flowers and scalloped edges. I resisted the urge to tuck it into my skirt (old habits die hard) and I'm glad I did. It would have been a pity to cover up any inch of this darling. 

I was kinda over this skirt for a while, thinking "Why in the world did I buy anything beige?? It's so not my color." But I think pairing it with white brings new freshness into an actually precious skirt. I love anything with pleats and it's got the extra clever little ruffled layer at the bottom.  

The shirt and skirt were a great canvas to wear some of my new favorite accessories. I found this gold pineapple necklace and I cannot stop wearing it - same goes for this tasseled-colorful-gold-chain-beaded collection of bracelets.  I wrapped a scarf around my bag for another pop of color, added a belt to accent my waist, slipped on a pair of nude heels (utterly and always obsessed with these) and voila!

The Boat House

I've been wanting to take photos at this location for a while now. I must admit I was definitely inspired by Rebecca from The Clothes Horse and her dreamy, woodsy, vintage styled photos (pictured below). We live near a beautiful lake and it's been nice taking advantage of it during the cooler Singaporean "winter" before it heats up. One of these days I'm going to convince Stephen to actually get in a kayak on the lake with me; I don't have a great track record with paddling so I'll let him have all that fun! 

Most of my pieces are from Singaporean thrift stores, the shoes from one in the U.S. The necklace is actually a monocle (which I wish I had displayed for you more clearly now) which was used by a great-uncle in my family. My mom has had this in her jewelry case for as long as I remember and eventually I got my hands on it.

The Siren on Your Ship

This past week, my boyfriend and I snuck away to Thailand for Chinese New Year. Packing for short beach trip is the most fun packing experience EVER. Usually I pack for longer trips where I have to carry and live out my backpack for weeks on end. It's amazing to go on extended trips but you don't get to pack the cute stuff - only the essentials. For this trip, I just threw in long, flowy skirts, swim suits and sunscreen into my boyfriend's backpack. The only thing I carried was my tote bag! (It's the most luxurious feeling in the world, by the way). 

In these pictures, I'm wearing the outfit I chose to travel in: from airplane, to mini van, to ferry for a total travel time of maybe 6 hours. First off, y'all know how much I love maxis. I swear by them. They are PERFECTPERFECTPERFECT for traveling. If you get cold on the plane, you tuck them around you. If you get hot, you hike it up. It's loose and comfortable but with the right accessories, you can change from stroll on the beach look to a night on the town. This skirt is my ultimate favorite thing I own, if you didn't already know. It's gone through a lot and on this trip is was no different - it mysteriously got a rip in it! It desperately needs the loving care of a dry cleaners. 

The skirt was particularly playful to wear on this boat. The wind was stirring it up like crazy! Who doesn't love having a Marilyn moment? We took the ferry to Koh Lanta right as the sun was setting. Gorgeous way to start our vacation! Koh Lanta is a beautiful, sleepy little island a couple hours away from Krabi airport. Touristy enough to be comfortable but none of the crazy, annoying shenanigans. Stay tuned to see the other things I packed in my his backpack!

Leather and Lace: Lady-Like Florals and Black

I don't even remember exactly where I got the camisole from but I've had it for years. When I first bought it, I instantly fell in love but I wasn't sure how to wear it. Cleaning out my closet at my parents' house this summer, I found it and was elated. The detail of the lace, the floral print, the shape of the top - I love it all. I also adore this skirt. It's the perfect lady-like length, with the lady-like pleats but it's got the leather waistband, which is so on-trend right now. I like the juxtaposition of the dainty floral top with the more hard black skirt. I think it's an overall interesting contrast and it lets the top be the focal point. To finish the look, I added my most beloved shoes. I got them at one of my favorite Korean thrift stores for $10! I probably would have gotten them for less if I had contained my excitement in the store. They are the perfect shoes. Y'all know my obsession with nude shoes and they are so comfortable!

Something new I tried was bold eyebrows. I can't wear eye make-up for 2 weeks because of my lasik eye surgery so I compensated with the eyebrows, a bold lip color, and glossy cheeks.
