Summer Chambray

Every girl should own a chambray dress - it's the little black dress of denim which means it goes with everything. And who doesn't want a no-brainer dress to wear? I love this one particularly because of the sweet, classic silhouette. The best way to spice up a simple dress is obviously with lots of accessories and I decided on a color-scheme to help me narrow down options: orange, blue and yellow.  A scarf in my hair, beaded necklace, a funky geometric belt and my adorbs polka dot loafers - ready to brave the weather of the tropics!

Smitten Kitten

I love any holiday themed fashion blog post - even if it is a little late!
I can't even begin to tell you how much I love Hello Kitty and this dress.
First of all, I'm currently an elementary teacher which means I'm inundated with adorableness from all angles - whether it's the kids themselves or the things they drag into my classroom, such as Hello Kitty paraphernalia. Maybe I've been in Asia too long, but I can't help it. I want to ask every little girl, "Dahling, where did you get that divine Hello Kitty tote bag?"
...which is hard because 1) their answer is most likely to be, "Dunno. Mom got it." and 2) I try very hard to focus on the process of their learning and their efforts as a good student and friend - not on what they are wearing. But y'all! They're so gosh-darn cute!
And when I saw this basket bag walking down the streets of Chinatown (I actually think this might be a knock-off, realized after the fact) I literally did a 180. Had to have it. Don't need your Mom's shopping advice after all, Maggie.

Of course, nothing is paired more to perfection than with this delightful dress - the fit and flair silhouette that feels made for me (fantastic length and all!), the fresh pink and white stripes, and crisp pleats. Did I mention I got this for $8? I would be drooling over it all but I don't think my date would find that very romantic… maybe.

Happy Valentine's day! I hope you had a great day cuddled up to the loved one of your choosing and looked fabulous doing it! <3

The Boat House

I've been wanting to take photos at this location for a while now. I must admit I was definitely inspired by Rebecca from The Clothes Horse and her dreamy, woodsy, vintage styled photos (pictured below). We live near a beautiful lake and it's been nice taking advantage of it during the cooler Singaporean "winter" before it heats up. One of these days I'm going to convince Stephen to actually get in a kayak on the lake with me; I don't have a great track record with paddling so I'll let him have all that fun!

Most of my pieces are from Singaporean thrift stores, the shoes from one in the U.S. The necklace is actually a monocle (which I wish I had displayed for you more clearly now) which was used by a great-uncle in my family. My mom has had this in her jewelry case for as long as I remember and eventually I got my hands on it.

In the Wild

My mom has a serious jewelry collection. Especially necklaces. It covers a wall of her rather large walk-in closet. It's a thing of beauty; one that I raid every time I'm home. We had so much fun pulling out ALL of the accessories that could possibly go with this Southwestern-styled poncho and photo shoot.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

This post was so much fun to shoot with my mom. Looking through her closet she didn't have anything red which is what I really wanted to wear with these fabulous shoes. After combing through her closet, I remember I had a summer dress I had left here. Put a long sleeve shirt underneath and a cozy flannel scarf over and summer is a long, distant memory!
Now back to these shoes. The heels are so high but they are so comfortable! And THE BOWS. And it's animal print. They make me feel so glamorous!

I sincerely hope that you have a wonderful Christmas filled with love no matter where you live and who you are with. I am so blessed to be spending the holidays with my family and my heart feels so full.
To all my readers, Merry Christmas!
