Still Hot on the Equator

I got this dress recently for $10 at H&M. I've been dying for one of these smock-style dresses that has the empire waist worn short and loose - something to easily throw on on a hot day. Which it is - always - on the equator! Everyone else is doing fall posts and I'm still sweating my booty off! I'm going home for Christmas this year (I CANNOT WAIT to spend the holidays with my family and friends!) I also can't wait to take advantage of the cooler weather and wear tights, boots, leather jackets and MAKE-UP THAT WON'T MELT OFF!

I wore this dress today on a day-date with the bf. We went to check out a famous hawker center to eat cheap and delicious food! If there is one thing you should know about Singaporeans, it's that they LOVE their food (which means I love them!) And why wouldn't they be foodies when anywhere they go they can get their fill of Chinese, Taiwanese, Malaysian, Indonesia, Indian (which also has many subgroups - vegan Indian, Muslim-Indian, Southern Indian…), Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, not to mention fusion food and Western food. And this isn't even mentioning the desserts, fruit stalls, and fresh juices (you haven't lived until you've drank an avocado smoothie - trust me!)

After chowing down, we went to go see Gone Girl. I had read the book when it first came out so I knew the twists that were to come but, holy moly! Whatta movie. Have y'all seen it yet?

Currently Craving: Block Low Heels

Block Heels

I've been seeing this new shoe trend around - particularly on Megan's Briar Rose blog. Not only are the heels LOW, but they are BLOCK heels - which are even more comfortable than kitten heels. I got a pair of Anne Klein kitten heels a while ago, thinking that the kitten heel would still be comfortable to stomp around the city in. Nope. Better than stilettos but I still felt like I had to step around delicately. I favor a block heel even with higher heels like in my NYE post.

But these - oh! So cute! I can't get enough. They are much more comfortable! Which is very important to me, as I am always walking from subway to bus all around the city. And am I the only one who loves the clickity-clack of heels while walking down the hallway? With these shoes, you get that gorgeous sound, as well as a little height in your step and a lot of style. I will definitely be on the hunt for  a size 6 1/2 in a pair of these!

What do you think of this new shoe trend? Nay or yay?

Faux Leather Leggings and Military Jacket for Errands in the Rain

I can't tell you how please I am with how this outfit turned out. To be honest, it was supposed to be a just a "throw on" kinda deal. I was running errands and needed something comfortable to wear without getting soggy in the rain (if you look closely, in some of the photos you can see rain drops).

I hadn't worn these faux leather leggings yet and it was finally cool enough to do so. These things are awesome! They're faux leather in the front, and thick cotton in the back - roomy enough for my booty and lets my legs breathe. Man, you don't even realize how much the faux leather keeps in heat!

This summer when I was checking out at DSW, we saw these hanging with the other leggings. I didn't try them on in the store and I was really nervous if they would fit or even look nice. And honestly, leather on my short stump legs? I wasn't convinced. But my mom convinced me to get them (thanks, Mom!) and I'm glad I did! I can't wait to style them with other things.

For styling this time around, I just threw on my chambray top to keep it casual. The military jacket, hiking booties,  strong silver jewelry, and braids all organically came together to create this tough, outdoorsy kind of look. I love it. It's not something normally I go to but it was refreshing to wear something more masculine than I'm used to. It was also fun to wear three huge fall trends together, too: leather, military-inspired, and chambray.

How would you style faux leather leggings?
