Bright Summery Florals for a Fall Night

This is about a very cute outfit and a very sad story. Okay, that's somewhat of an exaggeration. But this Saturday was my first day in forever where I didn't have to do anything it seemed. I was going to meet my friends out for drinks and dancing later this night but I wanted to get ready at my leisure. Is this just a me problem? If I only have 30 minutes, I can get ready so fast. But if you give me 4 hours, I can stretch out getting ready that long. Of course, I always end up putting on 10 layers of mascara and lipstick then. I started getting ready super early because I wanted to do my nails and try my hand at cat eyes. I'm not great at it but I love cat eyes soooo much. After I got ready and took pictures, I ended up accidentally falling asleep. By the time I woke up, I felt crappy that I ended up not going out or wearing my cute outfit. >.< Oh well.

I got this skirt at a clothing swap recently. I grabbed it quickly just because I love cotton skater skirts. But once I got home, I thought, "Is this an ugly skirt? Is the print too crazy?" I ended up pairing it with a black top and dark maroon tights and now I love the skirt. I like how the dark colors surrounding the skirt let the bold colors pop. I also love how even though the skirt is a floral print, with the dark colors it still looks like a fall outfit.

I also recently got these awesome chunky mary jane heels at Homeplus (the Korean Wal-mart). I'm obsessed with them. They are so comfortable that I've actually worn them teaching. But they're still heels so they give me that delicious magic voodoo thing that heels do - especially in this outfit! I don't know if it's the length of the skirt, the tights, the shoes or the height of the camera but man, I don't think my legs have ever looked that long!

Have you ever had an article of clothing that grew on you? Or even vice versa - something you at first loved, but later hated?
Sorry the photo is so dark!

Faux Leather Leggings and Military Jacket for Errands in the Rain

I can't tell you how please I am with how this outfit turned out. To be honest, it was supposed to be a just a "throw on" kinda deal. I was running errands and needed something comfortable to wear without getting soggy in the rain (if you look closely, in some of the photos you can see rain drops).

I hadn't worn these faux leather leggings yet and it was finally cool enough to do so. These things are awesome! They're faux leather in the front, and thick cotton in the back - roomy enough for my booty and lets my legs breathe. Man, you don't even realize how much the faux leather keeps in heat!

This summer when I was checking out at DSW, we saw these hanging with the other leggings. I didn't try them on in the store and I was really nervous if they would fit or even look nice. And honestly, leather on my short stump legs? I wasn't convinced. But my mom convinced me to get them (thanks, Mom!) and I'm glad I did! I can't wait to style them with other things.

For styling this time around, I just threw on my chambray top to keep it casual. The military jacket, hiking booties,  strong silver jewelry, and braids all organically came together to create this tough, outdoorsy kind of look. I love it. It's not something normally I go to but it was refreshing to wear something more masculine than I'm used to. It was also fun to wear three huge fall trends together, too: leather, military-inspired, and chambray.

How would you style faux leather leggings?

Little Lace Lady

I found this blouse at Goodwill forever ago but I always have a hard time styling it. It's a terrible 1980's cut - really boxy and it's got these weird vents on the sides at the bottom. But the lace detail is so gorgeous, I just had to keep it. I figured out by putting the high-waisted A-line skirt, it minimizes that boxy fit. The cool thing about this blouse is that it buttons all the way up in the back and sometimes I switch it around and wear the buttons in the front. I should also point out, I'm wearing a red long-sleeve tee under the lace top. But I've worn the lace top out at night with a black bra underneath and a pencil skirt.
How would you style a lace blouse?

Spooky Style in Saddle Shoes

I had too much fun wearing this outfit all day! But that's what fashion is all about, right? Here's my interpretation of a festive Halloween outfit - a bit retro style - without the embarrassing tacky embroidered sweater vests. Black and orange with a skull scarf throw on for good measure.

I went shopping on Wednesday and came across all these little gems: the skater skirt, the saddle shoes, and the retro glasses. I cannot believe I got those shoes for $10!! They're so comfortable and it's nice wearing something other than boots, sandals, or ballet flats. I also like that they have a lot of personality but they can match practically anything. Best part of all - I'm about to start swing dancing lessons soon and saddles shoes are perfect

For Halloween night, I watched scary movies on the big projector screen at my favorite bar.  My friends and I played rummy while trying not to scream at the scary parts. It was a cozy evening. What did you do Halloween night?
