Winter Wheat

My house back home (I guess it's technically my parent's house now but I will always think of it as mine) is filled with all these delicious vintage things. I was bound to love all things old when you have old ships, Grandfather's varsity jacket, and deteriorating books hanging from the walls and on the shelves. I really really wanted to do a photo shoot with our vintage typewriter, but alas time just slipped away from me. Luckily, I got these shots! My mom has 3 brownie cameras. As a kid I was fascinated by them and wanted to fix 'em up and use them.

My brother took these photos at a field near our house. After living in cities for four years, I keep forgetting how rural everything back home feels in comparison. I always think of the suburban shopping centers and the busy highway with all the restaurants, Wal-Marts and such but I forget that when you turn down a road you run into beautiful hilly fields and maybe even a few horses, goats or cows!

Mixing Cozy Winter Prints

When I left the house in this outfit, I thought the outfit was pretty toned down a maybe even a little boring (I also didn't realize how wrinkly my skirt was!) but when I took pictures, I realized there's more color than than I had thought. Most of the time, I consciously try to mix prints - it's my new fashion obsession - but I didn't try with this. It just happened so effortless. Honestly, this sweater is my go-to sweater to throw on top of everything because it's so cute and matches everything.

The one upside of the sudden drop in temperature is the chance to wear this wool skirt. The length and fullness of the skirt is perfect. I also love my plaid shirt with the gingham detail (it's also on the underside of the collar). I used to think of plaid shirts as too masculine for my style and I'm so glad I've come around on that - first off plaid shirts are a haven for so much color. And y'all know how much I love color! And this shirt is so flattering with it's tailoring.

To finish the look, I wore my hiking booties. I love the overall look because with the boots and plaid, it looks a little outdoorsy.

Alrighty, and now the moment you've all been waiting for...

Thanks to Rafflecopter, they randomly generated my 3 winners who are: Elissa, Rosalie, and Katie B! Congrats, y'all! And thanks to everyone who has entered. If you didn't win this time, don't be too sad for too long. I'm cooking up another giveaway sponsored by yours truly.

Classic Campus Cardigan

I don't know what it is about cooler weather, but it makes me really lazy when it comes to getting dressed. I had been waiting since August to finally layer up because layers make for the most interesting outfits. But then when I add all those layers, I end up taking them off and going for something more simple. I just can't stand not being comfortable and too many shirts on at the same time are unpredictable - the button-down twisting one way and the sweater going another.

This is yet again another outfit that I changed into at the last minute. I liked that it ended up looking a little 1970's and Victorian all at the same time. Or maybe that's just me. I think the locket looks sweet with the lace.

I also liked being able to play with neutrals. I don't know who got it in their head that you can't wear black and brown together but I think it looks okay. With everything that "breaks the rules" as long as it looks purposeful and that you meant to wear it like that, I think you can get away it. I'm basically wearing all neutrals but white: gray, brown, tan, navy, and black.
