Winter White and Evergreen

I bought this coat on one of my thrift store trips for $10! Even though it's not the thickest, I was drawn to the green and pink plaid and I had to have it. I knew it would be the perfect Christmas coat, with the evergreen - though a little nontraditional with the hints of pink. I based the rest of my outfit around one of this season's trend: winter white. I didn't want to clash with the pink by adding red so I went with simple white and a little gold flourish on my shirt's lapels. The trick to wearing all white is the same trick as wearing all black - making sure you have different textures to break it all up. This is a more simple holiday look than I usually go for, but I think the coat really ties it all together.
What did you wear for this Christmas? Hope everyone had a great cozy day!

I Spy Style: Bong Yeon

My friends and I were in Seoul this weekend for a K-pop concert and we were wandering around town when we saw this gorgeous gal. I really wanted to take her picture but I was shy and nervous about asking. Luckily, with my friends encouraging me and Lynn offering to use her Korean skills, I was able to get these shots of 봉연 (Miss Bong Yeon). And boy, am I glad I did! The more I look at these pictures, the more genius it is to me.

Let's just recap what 봉연 is wearing exactly: an electric blue coat, animal print scarf, red paisley print dress layered over a sheer white layer and then a black one, orange studded boots, a flower headband and cat-eye make-up. It's amazing! It sounds like so much but she makes it work so well. First, I love how she mixed the two prints together. Then on top of two loud prints, she went ahead and added extra color to her outfit. Then there's all the layers going on. And yet, everything she's wearing seems effortless.

Thanks, 봉연, for letting me take your picture!

The K-pop concert was awesome and I'll post up a few pictures of my own outfit coming soon. What did you do this weekend?

Mixing Cozy Winter Prints

When I left the house in this outfit, I thought the outfit was pretty toned down a maybe even a little boring (I also didn't realize how wrinkly my skirt was!) but when I took pictures, I realized there's more color than than I had thought. Most of the time, I consciously try to mix prints - it's my new fashion obsession - but I didn't try with this. It just happened so effortless. Honestly, this sweater is my go-to sweater to throw on top of everything because it's so cute and matches everything.

The one upside of the sudden drop in temperature is the chance to wear this wool skirt. The length and fullness of the skirt is perfect. I also love my plaid shirt with the gingham detail (it's also on the underside of the collar). I used to think of plaid shirts as too masculine for my style and I'm so glad I've come around on that - first off plaid shirts are a haven for so much color. And y'all know how much I love color! And this shirt is so flattering with it's tailoring.

To finish the look, I wore my hiking booties. I love the overall look because with the boots and plaid, it looks a little outdoorsy.

Alrighty, and now the moment you've all been waiting for...
