1 Sequin Top: 4 Ways to Wear for New Year's

When I think of New Year's Eve fashion I think of sequins and silver and gold, don't you? And of course black blazers, leather leggings, red lipstick and pointy heels all dress it up.
I couldn't decide which outfit to show y'all; all I knew was that I was definitely wearing this tank top - so I figured I'd just show you all of them and let you be the judge! Which is your favorite look?
Also, you can also check out two previous sequin looks here and here
What are you wearing for New Years?

Coco Chanel, The Witch of Fashion

Halloween falls on a busy work day for me this year and I haven't had a great track record this year with holidays so I didn't go all out like I normally do. But I couldn't just do nothing rien. Easiest thing in the world - grab your little black dress and classic witch hat et voila! It was so much fun to go retro and put on this looker; I got this dress at the thrift store and if it isn't the most flattering thing I own. I love the midi-length and that everything is so very covered up but sexy at the same time. And it's so stretchy and comfy. Parfait! Don some drop-pearl earrings, classic vintage make-up and these killer cat-eye sunglasses and I got myself a Chanel-esque witch. (or maybe Audrey-ish?)
What'd you wear for Halloween this year?

My fake store front in Chinatown. If you come into the back, I'll show you my bubbling caldron full of Chanel N°5!

Bali, Khaleesi, and Me

I got this sarong in Ubud, Bali last month (posts from my trip here, here, and here if you are curious). I have a bunch touristy sarongs from Thailand but none of them compare to this one! The fabric is much higher quality and the gold print has much more detail - I especially love the border that goes around the entire cloth. And I think the best part about sarongs from Bali is that you can see Balinese women still wearing them; they tend to wear them with (usually lace) tunics that have a sash around them. The outfits are so beautiful, feminine and flattering to curves.

When I got this sarong home, I was so pleased to see it matching some of my favorite gold jewelry. I made this body chain (oh so what would khaleesi wear?) a few years ago.  I used a dress dummy and a bunch of old gold chain necklaces I had hanging around my jewelry boxes and voila! I love how it reminds me of armor. Sadly, I don't wear it as much as I would like to. I am particularly pleased how the lines of the chains balances out the proportions of my hips in the sarong here. I also adore my bracelets; the one with the red gem and filigree-detail is vintage. The cuff - also very Khaleesi-inspired - is actually two butterflies put together.

So what do ya think; would you ever wear a sarong as more than just a beach cover-up?

I Have Nothing to Hide But A Lot of Polka Dots to Show

I'm elated to bring you this post for two reasons:
1. I get to show you my new dreamy Vedette Shapewear.
and...
2. This is my first official Belted Pear post after our big move to Singapore!!  I figured doing a photo shoot at the Chinese Gardens would be a perfect place to show you a little piece of my new home.

Yes, Vedette was so kind to send me another gorgeous shapewear corset! (You can see me wearing Aimee shapewear here). I am absolutely in love with Veronique shapewear - a pale lavender with polka dots down the front and underwire trim. I love how this design looks so flirty, feminine and darling. The corset gives a nod to lingerie without being too overwhelming - just that little hint with the black trim under the bust line. And the polka dots! (I've been come obsessed lately with polka dots.) Not only is the shapewear divine-looking, it does all the fantastic things shapewear should. It gives a little extra "hello!" to my bosom and then slims and smooths down the rest of me. I felt like I had such a tiny waist when I wearing this!

Because this little Vedette shapewear is so lighthearted and dainty I kept the theme going with one of my favorite little skirts. Isn't that feather print just scrumptious? The skirt actually used to be a dress but I hated the top part so off with its head! I just couldn't bear to part with the print. And just to go extra kooky, I had to add another print with this black and white polka dot scarf. I recently started doing the no-shampoo method and man, is my hair detoxing now! To hide the nasty, greasy mess that it is, I've been wrapping it up like crazy. But I absolutely feel in love with how the whole outfit turned out - a little whimsical and retro.
