1 Sequin Top: 4 Ways to Wear for New Year's

When I think of New Year's Eve fashion I think of sequins and silver and gold, don't you? And of course black blazers, leather leggings, red lipstick and pointy heels all dress it up.
I couldn't decide which outfit to show y'all; all I knew was that I was definitely wearing this tank top - so I figured I'd just show you all of them and let you be the judge! Which is your favorite look?
Also, you can also check out two previous sequin looks here and here
What are you wearing for New Years?

It's Beginning to Look a (Little) Like Christmas

In my last post I mentioned going to the ballet for Thanksgiving. This is what I ended up wearing… after I went through a ton of options while still yelling, I have nothing to wear! before I finally decided on this. I'm telling y'all, being a fashion blogger is like, harrrd
I decided on something simple yet festive. When in doubt, wear sequins - especially at this time of year! Not only do I love the gold shimmer on this top, I love that it's a little baggy; it gives off this effortless but still va-va-voom appeal. Pair it with a black high-waisted A-line skirt, nude shoes to give me long legs and a red lip and I'm ready to be kissed under the mistletoe!

New Year's Eve Sequins

This is my New Year's Eve skirt that I wore to a party a little while ago. Last New Year's Eve, I had a reunion with one of my good friends from university, Alicia. She came into town, we got all dolled up, went out to my favorite bar and then after 30 minutes (and taking these pictures), I threw up due to food poisoning. My new years' resolution last year was not to throw up in a taxi on the way back home. Hopefully this year will not be as pitiful!
However badly this skirt's track record might be, I still love wearing it every time. This time I decided to go a wee bit less va-va-voom and pair it with a slouchy oatmeal sweater. This sweater gave the overall look a delicious effortlessness - something I always seem to try and strive for but feel like I don't always succeed at.

I loved loved loved wearing this outfit not only for it's ease-factor but because I felt sexy without it being too much or too tight. We ate a huge meal that night and my baggy sweater did the trick to hide all the roast and red velvet cake intake. I decided not to wear any necklaces so that I could show off the skin of my neck/shoulder area - something I normally don't really think about. But it paid off - my boyfriend kept saying how much he loved my "creamy skin". Hehe.

I kept the rest of the outfit clean with simple studs, black accessories, and understated make-up. I let the skirt do all the talking!

Crossing my fingers that I will be able to enjoy New Year's celebrations this year! Not sure what I'm going to wear this year. What are you going to wear?

I Spy Style: Sasha Velvet: Rocker Chic

This I Spy Style is for my friend, Sasha who - as I've mentioned before - always has killer style. She very similar to me in the fact that she likes to dress to the nines for an event. And if there isn't an event to dress up for, make one! And Sasha wears black like no other. I'm not a big fan of habitually wearing black but when Sasha does it, it's always chic and interesting. She uses a lot of textures and interesting accessories to stand out.

When I saw her in this outfit, I said, "You must let me take pictures for you!" Luckily she did, even though my camera and photography skills are obviously subpar. I love this outfit because of... everything. First off, the epaulette on the shoulders!! When I first saw the movie, Les Miserables, and Russell Crowe was singing his sad, serious suicidal song all I could think about was, "Dang, that is an amazing jacket... where can I get something with some epaulettes...?" And then Sasha comes rocking up exactly that! If those sequins and chains aren't glamour, I don't know what is.
I also really love her boyfriend jeans. She's got great legs ... and knows how to use 'em (sorry, I couldn't help myself.) These jeans fit her like a dream. And then her accessories. The studded black heels, the skull earrings, the Boba Fett ring and her signature red lipstick. It pulls the look all together for one sexy, chic, rocker look.

Sequins, Stripes, and Shadows (Black and White)

Lately I'm so obsessed with black-and-white outfits. You just can't go wrong with it. You would have to try really, really hard not create a great look. It's chic, classic yet trendy, bold but not too loud. People tell me that only I can pull off some of the color combos I do (not true) but I can understand their hesitation. Well, then the black and white look is for you! And chances are, you already have what you need in your closet!

For this outfit, I choose two of my most beloved pieces. This sequin top I bought at a thrift store years ago - either before sequins were really huge or I felt bold enough to wear it. I'm glad I went with my gut and kept it all these years - it has so much potential! One problem with it though is that while it's a tank top technically, it's made out of this thick sweater-like knit so it's hot and scratchy. Now that it's getting cooler, I can comfortably wear it with another cotton tank top underneath. The skirt is another thing I was instantly attracted to. It's such a playful yet daring little skirt. It's great because the stripes are placed meticulously to flatter my figure and on top of it all, there are pockets!

What is your best black and white look? Tell me about it! Or better yet, SHOW ME! Send me an email at lindseydish@ymail.com with a photo attached, a short description of your look and your name. I'll feature the best looks in my blog.

Shhh... don't tell but these are actually two different charms I've collected over the years.
