Jeans and Blazer for the Vertically Challenged

I gotta admit, I'm not digging this outfit today. Is it too simple? Too structured? The jeans? I don't know why. I feel great in it but when I look at the pictures, I just think meh. Maybe I'm just not used to seeing myself in jeans. For the past 18 months, I've rarely worn jeans. I've gained some weight in Korea and finding jeans to fit me is a mission I just haven't wanted to tackle. I'm usually more of a dress/skirt kinda girl anyways. But today I wanted to wear something a little more casual, show off my shape, and be a little more covered up now that it's a twinge cooler. I paired the puff sleeve jacket to look a little more professorial.

Regardless of my mixed emotions about this outfit, I think (I hope!) there are a few things that work well and that other curvy, short ladies can follow. First, a cropped blazer that is synched in the waist. Longer blazers can tend to cut off the top of your thighs, giving you the look of shorter legs. The shorter the blazer, the shorter your torso looks so that means your legs can take all the glory. Also, this blazer is flattering because it's not boxy. Instead it highlights how small my waist is. The second thing that work well with this outfit is the jeans. When skinny jeans first came out, I had LOTS of reservations. Skinny jeans just emphasize my large derriere and hips even more. But these ones are great. They are DARK denim so they lengthen and slim. I also like them because they are not super-low risers and they are a good length. High-five, Forever 21

One last thing. I must have you pay attention to the detailing on my bangles from India. Each bracelet has a different design in the silver. I got to choose from a huge box where each one had a unique pattern. So cool!

*The Target website won't work for me in Korea.

  2. I LOVE the wash and shape of the jeans. They are definitely your friend. I think some wedges and a necklace would really spice things up. You should totally use your blog to showcase the jewelry you make!!! Also, I get my jeans from Forever 21 and they are the best jeans ever. The stretch is amazing.

    1. I know - the stretch makes it so comfortable! I put a necklace on but I didn't like it so I took it off. Next time I play with more options because I think the right necklace would look good. And yay! You got the comments to work for ya!

    1. Actually, Jasmine gave it to me. I'm not sure where she got it from.

  4. Skinny jeans could be you best friends! I think I need to get more in colored, though. I do have an issue with a blazer. I think a longer blazer that hit you just below the waist could be my solution otherwise a short blazer would be mistaken as a top (thank to my busty girls)

  5. Oh, I know, Ashley! I can't believe I don't have any colored jeans yet either. I can't find anything that I like yet.
